2005 CHRIS-CRAFT ROAMER 40 — SOLD
SOLD
LISTED AT AU $299,990 Negotiable at the time of listing
Sold by Davis Marine Brokerage · was lying Mosman NSW
Sold in 2026. A 13.26 m Chris-Craft with the classic lines, twin Volvo Penta shaft-drive diesels, two ensuite cabins and more than $60,000 of work completed in 2026 — listed at AU $299,990 and sold from Mosman.
Some boats date quickly. The Chris-Craft Roamer 40 does not. Her strong proportions and unmistakable Chris-Craft styling still look right two decades on, and the design works as well on the water as it does at the dock.
On deck
Wide walkaround side decks make moving from cockpit to bow easy and secure. Forward there is a large sunbed and one of the Roamer's best features: a recessed bench seat built into the foredeck, a superb place to sit at anchor away from the cockpit as the sun goes down. Aft, the cockpit opens up for entertaining, with room for guests, overhead shade, a permanently mounted gas barbecue and a substantial swim platform. Drop anchor, swim off the back, fire up the barbecue and settle in for the afternoon.
The helm is protected from the elements with excellent visibility all round. A bow thruster and forward chain counter make docking and anchoring simple, particularly when boating short-handed.
Accommodation and systems
This is not only a harbour entertainer. Below deck the galley can produce proper meals rather than weekend catering, with a Corian worktop, solid timber cabinetry, two fridges with freezer shelves, an icemaker and a twin electric hob, and the saloon is a comfortable place to relax indoors with TV and sound system. The forward master cabin is light and airy with its own ensuite; a second cabin with twin bunks has its own ensuite head, so family or guests have a space of their own. Two Vacuflush toilets, two showers. Air conditioning with two condensers, a Westerbeke 6 kVA generator and an Idromar watermaker make weekends away and coastal cruising considerably easier.
The way she drives
Beneath the classic styling is a sports-performance hull powered by twin Volvo Penta TAMD75P 480hp diesels on direct shafts in tunnels, 1,247 hours each. Performance, confidence and conventional mechanical simplicity: a boat that can entertain at anchor one day and cover serious distance the next. New Raymarine i70 instrumentation and Victron battery monitoring were fitted in 2026.

One cosmetic item was disclosed at listing: sections of the interior lining were lifting in places. We would rather say so up front than have a buyer find it at inspection.
What set this one apart
Timeless Chris-Craft styling, wide walkaround decks, a large open cockpit and swim platform, the foredeck sunbed and sunset lounge, two cabins with two ensuites, generator, air conditioning and watermaker, and a performance hull that makes the journey as enjoyable as the destination. A proper 40-foot motor yacht for swimming, entertaining, weekends away and simply being on the water. She sold with a Highfield aluminium RIB tender and Suzuki four-stroke outboard.
