The Duchy 35 is Cockwells’ best-known motor launch: designed by Andrew Wolstenholme and built in Cornwall, it pairs a classic sheerline and varnished teak transom with a semi-displacement hull that will run at 32 knots. Betty is the twin-cabin version, specified by her sole owner well beyond the standard boat and kept in the order you would expect of a boat with 190 hours. On deck

Dark blue hull, white topsides, teak side decks and a teak-laid cockpit. The cockpit has U-shaped seating either side with two pedestal tables that fold out and join into one dining table, seating for eight, and bifold doors that open the wheelhouse right up to the cockpit. Forward, the foredeck carries two large sunpads. Cockpit shower, cockpit cover and cushions, swim ladder, gangway, electric winch and davits for the 3 m Duchy dinghy; a solar panel helps keep the batteries up on the mooring.

Wheelhouse and galley

The wheelhouse is oak-lined with a teak sole, a sliding sunroof overhead and windows all round. The helm has twin Raymarine touch-screen displays, a Yanmar engine display, joystick control and the bow thruster to hand, with a companion seat alongside. To port is a dinette with table; to starboard the galley runs down the side with dark worktops, hob, sink, Bosch microwave and Isotherm fridge. Integrated Eberspächer heating and air conditioning, a Fusion audio system with cockpit speakers and onboard Wi-Fi are fitted.

Two cabins and one heads. The forward cabin has a double berth with lockers either side and overhead; the second cabin has a double berth and its own seat with lockers. Both cabins have opening ports. The heads has an electric toilet, a basin on a dark worktop, a teak grating sole and an opening port, with hot water to the heads and galley. Four berths in all.

Engineering

Twin Yanmar 8LV 350hp diesels on shafts with four-blade bronze propellers, 190 hours each at the time of listing. Maximum speed 32 knots, cruising 16–25 knots, with 1,000 litres of fuel for a range of about 320 nautical miles. An 8 kW generator, inverter, battery charger and shore-power inlet cover the house loads; the Seakeeper gyro takes the roll out at anchor and underway. Fresh water 420 litres, holding tank 180 litres, electric and manual bilge pumps, and a liferaft is carried.
