“Setting The Standard for Excellence”
Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding, a UK-based boat builder with over 25 years of experience, has been making waves in the industry with impressive sales and accomplishments. Specialising in designing and custom-building high-quality superyacht tenders, motor yachts such as Duchy Motor Launches and Hardy Motor Yachts, Cockwells continues to set the standard for excellence.
At the recent Southampton International Boat Show, Cockwells experienced significant sales success with multiple orders for the Duchy 35, Duchy Sport, Duchy 27 in the semi-production boat range and pre-production orders for the new Duchy 45. The Duchy range combines the classical lines of traditional gentleman’s boats with modern luxury and polished styling, offering various sizes, ranging from 21ft to 60ft, and customisable options to meet the discerning tastes of clients.
In addition to the Duchy Motor Launches, Cockwells achieved further sales triumph with their Hardy Motor Yachts at the same boat show. A notable sale was the Hardy 45 European, built on the renowned Hardy 42 hull. This motor yacht stands out for its ability to handle rough waters and its ergonomic design, creating ample personal space for all on board. These achievements added up to a combined value of £4 million, setting a new sales record for Cockwells at the Southampton International Boat Show.
Prior to this accomplishment, Cockwells reached another significant milestone by delivering the all-new Hardy 50DS to its delighted owners. This explorer yacht, a smaller version of the renowned Hardy 65DS, offers impressive capabilities for long-distance voyages. With speeds exceeding 25 knots and a range of over 1500 miles, the Hardy 50DS combines ruggedness with modern finishes and advanced technology, providing a luxurious and comfortable cruising experience for adventurous souls.
Cockwells’ expertise in designing and building superyacht tenders has also led to recent sales. They have designed and built four exceptional superyacht tenders, which were delivered to the Spanish Shipyard, Freire, for the 112m seven-deck megayacht, Renaissance. Among this remarkable quartet is the 13m Limousine Tender, boasting a stylish design inspired by private jets, reclining seats, air-conditioning, and a luggage room. The 13m Open Tender offers a luxurious experience with an adjustable hardtop and wind protection, sharing the same hull and propulsion system as the Limousine Tender. The 10m Beach Lander Tender features a two-part electronically-folding bow ramp, waterjet propulsion, and amenities like a central helm position and a sunbathing deck. Lastly, the Air-Sport 7.0 combines the functionality of a RIB with the luxury of an open limousine, featuring inflatable tubes, a spray hood, and a powerful Yanmar diesel engine capable of reaching a top speed of 36 knots.
Moreover, Cockwells created a second tender for Malahne, a classic 50m motor yacht built by Camper & Nicholsons in 1937, designed in the timeless Art Deco style. The T/T Malahne, constructed in 2023, showcases stunning varnished Brazilian mahogany cladding, quilted maple veneer trim, and advanced technology. With a pop-up spray hood and a lowering bathing platform, it maintains the classic and opulent finish of Cockwells’ first tender for Malahne, built in 2016. Powered by a Yanmar 4LV250 diesel engine, it can achieve impressive speeds of up to 38 knots.
Founder & Executive Chairman, Dave Cockwell, expressed great satisfaction with the sales success, emphasising the strong demand for Duchy Motor Launches, Hardy Motor Yachts, and bespoke superyacht tenders. Recognising the need to meet this growing demand, Cockwells is actively expanding its team by recruiting skilled professionals in a range of roles, from boatbuilders to marine electricians. This strategic move ensures that Cockwells can continue to deliver exceptional craftsmanship and meet the evolving needs of their discerning clientele.
