Motor yacht brokerage · Sydney Harbour

Sell your motor yacht in Sydney

We broker motor yachts and cruisers from the mainstream yards — Riviera, Maritimo, Sunseeker, Princess, Fairline, Palm Beach, Fleming, Absolute, Chris-Craft, Beneteau, Mainship, Marlow and Alaska — from $100,000 up to $3 million and beyond. Most of what we sell changes hands between $200,000 and $1 million. If that is your boat, this page is for you. The valuation is free, it comes from boats we have actually sold, and there is no obligation to list.

Why it is a different job

Selling at this level is a different job

A $40,000 runabout sells on a listing site in a fortnight. A $600,000 flybridge does not. The buyer pool is smaller, the buyers are more careful, and every one of them will want a survey, a sea trial, finance in place and clear title before money moves.

Months on the market cost you berthing, maintenance and depreciation; a deal that falls over at survey costs you the buyer. The job is not the advertisement. It is qualifying who comes aboard, pricing against what comparable boats actually sold for, and carrying the transaction through to settlement without it coming apart.

Start to settlement

What we do for you

A number you can stand behind

We compare her against recent sales of the same model and era, not asking prices, and tell you what would move the number.

Presentation that earns the price

Professional photography and video, a specification buyers can trust, and a word in your ear if preparation would pay for itself.

Buyers who are real

Every enquiry is qualified before it gets near your boat. Our database of past buyers and sellers is where the first introductions come from.

Survey, sea trial and finance handled

We manage the surveyor, run the sea trial, and work with the buyer’s lender so conditions clear on time.

Funds held in trust

The deposit and balance sit in a protected trust account until settlement; encumbrances are paid out as part of it.

Settlement and handover done

We remind you to cancel your registration and insurance, help the new owner arrange theirs, do the handover aboard with the new owner, and make sure every piece of paperwork is completed before the keys change hands.

Our track record

Boats like yours that we have sold

Every sold listing stays online with its description, specification and photographs, so you can see exactly how a boat like yours was presented. A selection:

The full list, with photographs and listed prices where recorded, is on recent boat sales. Current listings, including a Princess V70, Prestige 500 S, Ferretti 550 and Sanlorenzo SL96, are on boats for sale.

Fees

What it costs

Commission on the sale price, reducing as the value rises, with further reductions above $500,000. Commission is paid only once we have sold her for you. Survey, slipping and detailing are at cost and only where they will return more than they cost. The full picture is in our guide to brokerage fees in Australia.

Timing

How long it takes

A recent-model boat from a respected yard, presented well and priced against real sales, typically goes under contract within one to six weeks. Older boats, or boats priced to an owner’s hope rather than the market, take longer. That is why the appraisal comes first.

Being straight with you

Who this page is not for

Trailer boats, tenders and jet skis sell in different markets through different channels, and we do not value or broker them. If your boat is a mainstream-yard motor yacht under $100,000, a dealer for the make or Boatsales listings of the same model will serve you better than we can. We would rather say so than waste your time. We are motor yacht specialists, but will look at a high-value sailing yacht on request.

Questions owners ask

Do I have to list with you to get the appraisal?

No. A good share of the appraisals we do never become listings. Owners use them to decide whether to sell, to set an insured value, or to check a number someone else gave them.

My boat is not in Sydney. Can you still sell it?

Yes. We take listings across Australia. Where a vessel sits outside Sydney we handle marketing, qualification, negotiation and settlement remotely and arrange inspection and survey locally.

Can I keep using her while she is listed?

Yes, and we would rather you did — a boat that runs every fortnight presents better than one that sits. We coordinate inspections around your use.

What if she has finance owing?

Common at this level. The loan is paid out from the sale proceeds at settlement so the buyer takes clear title; we handle the payout with the lender.

What does the commission cover?

Appraisal, presentation, portal and social advertising, buyer qualification, inspections, negotiation, survey and sea-trial management, trust account, settlement and the handover to the new owner. It is paid only once we have sold her for you.
